The Theologians Behind the Asians

The Theologians Behind the Asians

Over the weekend, Daniel Ang and I dropped the latest episode of our podcast Awkward Asian Theologians, and we talked about our least favourite subject, ourselves.

More precisely, we talked about the writers that have influenced the work in our respective areas. While Dan talked about the influence of some of the Nouvelle Theologie authors like de Lubac and Ratzinger more recently, I for my part spoke of the decisive influences of William Cavanaugh and Byung-Chul Han, the latter being a major factor in my book A Theological Engagement with Pornography.

If there was anything I would do again in the episode, it would be a more intentional articulation of, amidst our discussing differing influences, some common ground with our respective authors. But you might detect as you listen on, an common committment to the eminent applicability of academic theology.

“The Theologians Behind the Asians” can be listened to in full on Spotify, Apple Podcast and Amazon Music.
