A Theological Engagement with Pornography
Regular readers of the blog would already know that I write regularly on the subject of pornography, which is an outworking of my research on theology and postmodern culture.
Over the years since presenting it as a conference paper and journal article, I have accumulated a somewhat sizeable smattering of thoughts and bits of research (which have found expression in both written and audio form on the Centre for Public Christianity and Proven Ministries).
This has proven to be a productive period to both sharpen my argumentation about pornography, whilst also develop other facets to the argumentation on the matter. This is latter part of the period is largely thanks to the writings of Byung Chul Han, particularly his The Agony of Eros and The Transparency Society.
I am now pleased to say that the work on this has reached another stage, with Routledge now in the production phase of a monograph-length manuscript, as part of their Routledge Focus series of books.
The title of the book will be A Theological Engagement with Pornography.
Routledge have set up a pre-order page for the book, which gives you a sense of the book’s appearance, some further details, and a chance to receive updates in the lead up to the book’s release. For its part, Google Books have put out an excerpt of the book for your consideration.
All things being well, we hope to have the book see the light of day later in the year, if not early next year.
