Eschatology in the Third Millenium

Eschatology in the Third Millenium

The School of Philosophy and Theology at the University of Notre Dame Australia (where I serve as Adjunct Senior Lecturer) recently released the Call for Papers for an upcoming conference on Eschatology in 2024.

This is the fifth installment of a series of conferences put out by the School entitled Theology at the Beginning of the Third Millenium. Each installment deals with a specific theme in theology, the previous four having dealt with Mariology, Ecclesiology, Anthropology and Pneumatology.

A deal has also been struck with Wipf and Stock to publish each conference as part of a “Theology at the Beginning of the Third Millenium” book series (as an aside, I have also had a productive relationship with Wipf and Stock, who published my book on ecumenism and another on zombies.

Like the previous conferences, the upcoming conference on Eschatology has a very wide scope, with possible topics including Patristic, medieval, thomistic and contemporary eschatology. There is also scope to explore Eschatology within cultures, ecumenism and many more, as indicated in the attached CFP above.

I have had the privilege of presenting at each of these conferences and having a chapter published in two of those volumes (I am hopeful to having a third published in the near future). Each has proven to be a highly productive and thought provoking experience, as well as an opportunity to reconnect with old colleagues and make new friends in academic theology. For this reason, I hope to submit an abstract for the conference organisers’ consideration, provisionally entitled “Loss in Light of the Latter Days”.

The conference will be held in its usual Sydney venue on 9 and 10 February 2024. For those interested in submitting an abstract for consideration, the deadline for the call for papers is 3 October 2023, with contact details in the attached CFP above.
